Clinical Massage Therapy

Unlike traditional massage, medical massage is a specific session tailored to your pain issues. We use a blend of massage therapy and manual therapy techniques, including: Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Active Isolated Stretching, Cupping Therapy and DermoNeuroModulating.

We identify your pain, work the root cause and lastly stretch the affected area. Proper medical massage therapy brings about physiological change that will reduce or eliminate pain, return optimal range of motion and promote overall well being.

Regular medical massage has been shown to provide long lasting or permanent removal of pain and discomfort. Stress plays a major role in pain, and stress relief massage can and will be included in sessions to achieve pain relief.

Your First Medical Massage

The first step in pain relief is to understand exactly what the problem is. Initial medical massage assessments run longer, typically around 10-15 minutes. Your massage therapist will start by asking important questions about your pain, job and lifestyle to get a clearer understanding of your situation. They may have you perform certain movements or tests. They will then explain in detail how/what they think is going on, and outline the plan for the massage.

Medical Massage FAQs

Although we integrate massage techniques and relaxation into every session, medical massage is more targeted, specific and brings about much better changes and results for the patient. Medical massage therapists have more extensive training for pain relief and implore a multitude of more specific techniques called “Manual Therapy”. We are experts in are deep tissue massage, Myofascial Release and Dermal Traction Method. The aim of these sessions is to treat specific conditions such as headaches, neck pain, low back pain, shoulder impingement, TMJ disorder, and etc.

This can depend on a multitude of factors. Longer massages allow the ability to get deeper, as well as more time to provide more work. Shorter massages can still be therapeutic. We recommend, and most patients schedule, a 50 or 80 minute session. We also offer a 20% discount on packages multiple massages for our 50 minute and 80 minute massages.

New York State does not require insurance companies to cover massage. If your insurance plan
has an FSA or HAS spending account, you can use those dollars towards your medical massage. We accept cash, credit card, CareCredit and checks (not accepted for first time patients). We offer a 20% discount on packages of multiple massages for our 50 minute or 80 minute sessions.

This depends on the severity of your pain, how often it bothers you and how long it has been bothering you. We will give you a determination at the completion of your first medical massage based upon our assessment and what we found. In most cases, we recommend starting at weekly appointments to speed up the process of not only getting you to your very best, but keep you there long term.

Medical massage therapy reduces or eliminates pain, allows for better range of motion, better posture, reduced fatigue, promotes relaxation, reduces stress/anxiety, improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, improves sleep quality and increases lymphatic drainage.
