Sports Massage FAQs
We have extensive training in medical massage, as well as sports massage therapy. This allows us to be more targeted, specific and bring about much better changes and results for athletes. Techniques we are experts in are swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, Myofascial Release, Dermal Traction Method and Cupping Therapy.
Sports massage therapy reduces or eliminates pain, allows for better range of motion, better posture, reduced fatigue, reduces stress/anxiety, improves circulation, improves sleep, increased lymphatic drainage, future injury prevention, decreased stiffness, enhanced body awareness and enhanced overall athletic performance.
New York State does not require insurance companies to cover massage therapy. If your insurance plan has an FSA or HAS spending account, you can use those dollars towards your massages. We accept cash, credit card, CareCredit and checks (not accepted for first time patients). We offer a 20% discount on packages of multiple massages for our 50-minute or 80-minute massages.
This can depend on a multitude of factors. Longer massages allow the ability to get deeper, as well as more time to provide more work. Shorter massages can still be therapeutic. We recommend, and most patients schedule, a 50-minute massage. We offer 20% discounts on packages of three sessions on our 50-minute and 80-minute massages.
This depends on the severity of your pain or injury, as well as your goals for performance enhancement. We will give you a determination at the completion of your first sports massage based upon our assessment and what we found. In most cases, we recommend starting at weekly massages to speed up the process of getting you to your very best, with the long term goal of keeping you at your best.
